Oso Lake is THIS weekend! It's going to be a fantastic trip to kick off the new year. With so much to offer, it's impossible to say no. We'll have archery, canoeing, and fishing, to name a few, as well as advancement opportunities for EVERY scout under the rank of Star. Perhaps most importantly, we will introduce the new Patrols and give all of you the chance to create your Patrol Name, Song/Yell, and more.

It will be this Saturday and Sunday (September 22-23). Meet at First Christian Church on Saturday morning by 7:30 am. We will return sometime Sunday afternoon. Eat breakfast before you leave Saturday morning, and bring a sack lunch for your next meal. Patrols will cook together for everything else.

Do NOT forget your Scout Handbook, 10 Essentials, Sleeping Bag/Pad, Warm Clothes, Hat, and full Class B!

It was a huge success and a lot of fun last time - hope to see you all there!

This summer will offer everything from service projects to summer camp, starting next Monday with the annual Flags for Fallen Heroes event hosted by the Huntington Beach Pier.  We have two shifts working; one large group coordinating the flag ceremony and putting up flags and name placards between 8:00 and 10:00 in the morning, and one clean-up crew working at 3:00.  It's a terrific event and great opportunity to recognize the sacrifices made by our hometown heroes.

Today, the Shake and Bake Patrol took part in a service project where they donated Easter Baskets to children at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital - who otherwise may not have had much opportunity to enjoy the holiday.  Best of all, it was completely self-coordinated!  Thank you to them as well as all the scouts in the troop that donated supplies/goodies for the baskets!

In other news, don't forget that there IS still a troop meeting this Monday!

Pre-Camporee 3 is coming up fast - it's the last day of Spring Break, so be sure to finish your homework before then.  It will be at the cabin from 8:00-2:00 - donuts AND pizza will be provided to all attendees.  See you all there!

And of course, happy Spring Break everyone!  Have fun, stay safe, and come to Pre-Camporee 3!

We had another great meeting last night, and next week we can look forward to a hands-on training experience as we properly set up camp equipment in practice for Precamporee 1.  All scouts should attend, especially those that have never been to Camporee before!

There are also a number of upcoming trips!  We have a timeless classic, Anza Borrego - a fun filled off-roading experience car camp, as well as Precamporee 1.  The latter will have 8 mock Camporee styled events plus an archery and tomahawk range!  Check the calendar tab for more info.  Scouts: sign up in the cabin asap!

As we delve into the Camporee season, we must hone our spirit just as much as our skills.  That's why tonight we'll focus on mastering the Troop Yell, among other spirit building activities.

In addition, the Patrol of the Month (December/January) will be announced!

Thanks to all Webelos who have visited Troop 1 recently!  We look forward to welcoming new scouts who plan on bridging in February.  If you are a Webelo, or are considering joining Scouting, and would like to visit Troop 1, please contact the SPL Staff at troop1hb@gmail.com.
